On a Friday, a band formed by five students in Oxford, England, signed with Parlophone, an EMI subsidiary, and changed the band name to Radiohead. Their debut album, Pablo Honey, was released in February 1993. The album was produced by Paul Coldrey and Sean Slade, known for their work with Dinosaur Jr. and Pixies. Early Radiohead's distinctive features were the fusion of US alternative rock manners, the post-punk experimental spirit of Magazine and Joy Division, and the lyricism of The Smiths and British humor, and this album has a "punk" feel that is not found in other works. The album includes 12 songs, including the classic "Creep," which was the starting point of their brilliant career and is still immensely popular today.
