Porno for Pyros - Good God's Urge - LP (Rhino Reserve, 180 Gram Vinyl)

Porno for Pyros' second and final studio album is a darker, more atmospheric evolution of the band's sound, blending alternative rock with touches of psychedelia, worldbeat, and introspective lyricism. Released in 1996, the album leans into moody textures and unconventional rhythms, creating a sense of unease that runs beneath its hypnotic grooves.

Frontman Perry Farrell delivers cryptic, often surreal lyrics that explore themes of desire, spirituality, and disconnection, giving the record a haunting, almost meditative quality. Tracks shift between sparse, brooding arrangements and bursts of intensity, emphasizing mood over straightforward hooks.

Good God's Urge stands as a bold, experimental statement—less immediate than their debut, but richer and more immersive, revealing a band willing to push beyond expectations into stranger, more introspective territory.
